To split bills with friends, we collect minimal account information:

• Email address – for account creation and login
• Display name – to identify you to friends in shared bills
• Friend connections – to enable bill sharing between users

We do not collect phone numbers, addresses, or other personal information beyond what's necessary for the app to function.

3. Receipt Processing

When you scan receipts:

• Receipt images are processed using AI to extract bill items
• Images are automatically deleted immediately after processing
• Only the extracted text data (items, prices) is stored to create your bill splits
• We use secure AI processing services to analyze receipts

We never permanently store your receipt images or use them for any purpose other than extracting bill information.

4. Bill and Split Data

We store bill information to enable sharing and tracking:

• Bill details – restaurant name, items, prices, dates
• Split calculations – who owes what to whom
• Payment status – to track settled bills

This data is only accessible to users who were part of the original bill split.

5. Third-Party Services

• Firebase Authentication – secure user login and account management
• AI Processing Services – secure receipt text extraction
• Firebase Firestore – encrypted data storage for bills and user data

6. Data Security

We take your privacy seriously:

• All communication between the app and server is encrypted
• Receipt images are never stored permanently
• User data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption
• Access to your data is limited to authorized users only

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data – view what information we have about you
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your bill history and splits
• Correct any inaccurate information

8. Future Analytics

In the future, we may use anonymized analytics tools like Firebase Crashlytics and PostHog to help us improve the app and understand usage patterns. These tools help us identify bugs, performance issues, and improve features — never for advertising or profiling.

If and when these tools are added, this policy will be updated, and we will remain transparent about what is collected. No personally identifiable data will be collected without your consent.
